DR. UJJWALKUMAR CHAVHAN

Dr. Ujjwalkumar Chavhan, an ex-IRS officer, is a distinguished professional with a multifaceted background in law, economics, and public administration. With a medical degree (MBBS) from Government Medical College, Miraj, he expanded his academic pursuits to include a Master’s in Business Law and Taxation from NALSAR University, an MA in Economics from IGNOU, and an LLB from Mumbai University.

Dr. Chavhan’s career in the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) is marked by notable achievements. He served as the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in Nashik, where he held the post for two years and later as Deputy Director in the Investigation Wing, Nashik. His keen investigative acumen led to the detection of unaccounted income of 156 crores in a single search, setting a record for the region. He was also recognized with the Best Assessment Award for Pune in 2016. He has also worked as a Senior Authorized Representative from the side of Income Tax Department in Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.

His expertise spans across areas such as investigation, international taxation, and transfer pricing, culminating in his selection for a deputation to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Mumbai. During his tenure at ED, he handled highly sensitive cases of national and international significance. He continues to be a sought-after expert, regularly invited as guest faculty at institutions like NACEN, CBI, and the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), lecturing on laws such as PMLA and FEMA.
